Coach Michael provides baseball lessons in Long Beach at Cherry Park
Short Bio:
I love baseball and every aspect of the game. I am passionate and dedicated, always driven and determined to put my best foot forward in every single thing that I do. My ultimate goal is to get you to a place of complete confidence in yourself, within and in the game.
Coaching Experience:
I have been teaching and coaching the game for over 5 years. I’ve coached little league, as well as an elementary school for 2 and a half years. I started out giving private lessons amongst family members, and then through word of mouth, I began giving lessons to children in my community and network of people.
Playing Experience:
I have played baseball since I was a small child. I started at the young age of 4 years old in T-ball. I played all the way through elementary, high school on Varsity and for one year at West LA college. I also continue to play on the weekends in a men’s league.
Coaching Specialties:
I can teach all levels and all aspects of the game from pitching to hitting to fielding to baserunning. I am especially confident in teaching and working with children just starting out, teaching the fundamentals and getting the ball rolling. I am left handed myself and I love working with lefties as well and helping them to develop their game.
A lesson with me:
I begin by getting to know my player and their background, experience, goals and any concerns they have along with what drives them. Because ultimately, their reason is going to be what makes the lessons propel. I begin with a warm up, which includes stretches, some cardio, and simple throwing and catching to get the blood flowing to help us get into a zone. Then we would get into our lesson, which would depend on where we left off, running drills, reiterating and implementing strategies from previous lessons; if a new player, the first session would consist of assessing my player’s skill level and taking it from there. At the end, we will discuss and review with the player, followed by a discussion with parent/guardian, giving an overview of all we worked on, discussing any of their concerns as well, and sending them home with simple at home practices to do in between sessions.
