Coach Makonnen provides baseball lessons in Lakewood at Mae Boyer Park South
I think baseball is the greatest game in the world and I love being a coach, mentor, and role model to young people who want to learn and have fun playing this great game. I have over five years of coaching experience and have loved every day of it so far!
-Little League Team Manager – 8 & 9-year-olds (21′ – 22′)
-Little League Coach – 6 to 8-year-olds (16′ – ’19)
-Summer Baseball Camp Coach – 6 to 8-year-olds (15′ – 17′)
My coaching philosophy has always been that fundamentals and player development should come before the competitive aspect of the game. I’m mostly focused on instilling an appreciation and love for the game of baseball in each player I work with.
-High School Varsity player (15′ – 17′)
-Youth player (5 years old to 14 years old)I have played baseball my entire life and it’s always been my favorite sport.
-I’m always looking forward to sharing my passion and knowledge of the game with as many youth as possible!
A lesson with me:
Starting with what the player is familiar with, I would build upon those skills and attributes and develop them into a complete athlete. I believe building a relationship of trust, respect, and communication between coach and player is the most important aspect of any lesson.
My favorite motivational quote:
“They throw the ball, I hit it. They hit the ball, I catch it.” – Willie Mays
