Short Bio:

My name is Coach Louie and baseball is literally my life. I first learned the game from my grandfather then my dad. My dad played professionally in Cuba. My uncle played professionally in Nicaragua. I’ve been playing and learning baseball since I was 4 years old and I still currently play competitively in adult single A leagues. My goal is to pass everything I learned from great coaches to today’s youth who have a passion and love for the same game I have a passion and love for.

Coaching Experience:

– 10+ years coaching youth baseball
– Entering 6th year as Varsity Baseball Head Coach for the iconic Hollywood High School
– 2018 Los Angeles Citywide Tournament Champion as a Coach
– Former Board Member and Coach of University Little League
– Current Board Member and Coach of Beverly Hills Little League
– PCA Certified
– First Aid & CPR certified-Specializes in Pitching, Hitting, Fielding and Catchers
– Has coached travel ball, pony, and softball
– 2023 CIF City Section Div. 2 Exposition League High School Champions at West Adams Prep High School

Playing Experience:

I have played this game my whole life and have been a student of the game every day of my life as well. I played 4 years of high school and went on to play in community college, but I ended my career early due to an injury. After years of rehab I still continue playing competitively in adult single A leagues. I also currently manage and play for my own Sunday league team, the Santa Monica Mavericks in the Beach Cities Adult Baseball League.

A lesson with me:

A lesson with me would include learning about my player and then starting with a warm up. It is very important to teach a young player the importance of playing catch and how to do that effectively, so I will spend some time with them on their throwing mechanics. Each lesson will be different and I will always tailor my lessons to what my client needs work on as well as has the most fun with. For me, it is always about a balance and making sure that my players have fun and learn at the same time.

My favorite motivational quote:

“Life is like baseball, the most important things take place at home!”

and

“Pencils have erasers because people make mistakes. It’s okay to make a mistake!”

Where I coach my players:

I provide private baseball lessons at Penmar Park in Santa Monica. There are 5 great baseball fields of different sizes to use. Normally we are on field 4 or 5. There are also lots of trees to provide shade when it is hot. Penmar Park is not the nicest field in the world, but it is amazing.

The bathrooms are normally open, but it is not always guaranteed and it is always recommended to use the rest room before your lesson.

Parking is always easy and free on the street along the border of the park.

Lesson FAQ

How do I book a lesson with this coach?

All lessons must be booked through MADE Baseball.

Click the “Booking & Availability” button on this coach’s profile to view their live calendar and reserve your lesson time.

After booking, the coach will text you directly within 24 hours to confirm and introduce themselves.

Is equipment provided, or should I bring my own?

Players should bring their own glove, bat, helmet, and any other personal gear needed to train.

Coaches will provide baseballs and additional training equipment as needed, but players are expected to come prepared with their essentials.

How Do I Prepare for My Lesson?

Preparing for your lesson:

At MADE Baseball, we want every player to show up confident, focused, and ready to improve. Here’s how to prepare so you get the most out of your session:

✅ What to Bring:

  • Baseball glove
  • Bat (if hitting will be involved)
  • Helmet (required for any live thrown batting practice)
  • Water bottle – stay hydrated!
  • Cleats or turf shoes – depending on field surface (normally cleats are best)
  • Positive attitude, coachability, & enthusiasm

📍 Before You Arrive:

  • Arrive at least 5 minutes early so we can start on time
  • Review your goals or any areas you’d like to focus on
  • Stretch or lightly warm up if possible
  • Use the restroom beforehand to maximize lesson time

⚾ Working with a MADE Coach:

  • All MADE coaches are trained to make lessons fun, effective, and development-focused
  • Be ready to learn, have fun, ask questions, and put in some work!
  • If a second player was added to the lesson, your coach will structure the time for both players

💬 Questions?

Text us anytime at 1-877-MADE-888 if you need help or have questions before your lesson!

Where will the lesson take place?

Each MADE Baseball coach trains at their own designated location — typically a local park or field in the area. You can find their general training location listed on their coach profile page before booking.

Once your lesson is confirmed, your coach will text you with exact meeting spot details for that day. Since some parks can be quite large and public field availability can vary by time, day, or season, the specific meeting location within the park may change from session to session, although not common.

To help you find them easily, coaches are instructed to provide an annotated map, visual reference, or share their location with you when necessary. If you ever have trouble locating your coach, don’t hesitate to text or call them directly.

✅ We always recommend arriving at least 15 minutes early to ensure the full lesson can start on time without stress or delay.

What happens if the field is unplayable due to rain?

MADE Baseball coaches conduct all lessons at outdoor public parks and fields — we do not use indoor facilities.

As a result, we are always subject to weather and field conditions. If it’s raining or has recently rained (typically within the past 24–72 hours), the field may be deemed unplayable by your coach for safety reasons.

If your coach determines the field is unsafe or unfit for use, your lesson will be credited in full and can be rescheduled for a later date.

We always do our best to perform the lesson but we prioritize the safety of both players and coaches, and we appreciate your understanding when weather conditions require a change of plans.

How do payments work?

All payments are processed securely through the MADE Baseball website at the time of booking.

You can book single lessons or save by purchasing a lesson package.

Coaches do not accept payment directly. This keeps things simple, secure, and ensures your spot is reserved on the coach’s calendar.

Can siblings share a package?

Yes — siblings can share both lesson packages and camp day packages.

This makes it easy and affordable for families with more than one player to train and improve together.

Just let your coach know at the first session how you’d like to split the sessions between your players.

What if I’m late to the lesson?

If you’re late, the coach will do their best to work with you — but your lesson time may still end as originally scheduled.

If the coach has flexibility in their schedule, they may extend your session, but this is not guaranteed.

We encourage everyone to arrive early, ready to go, so you can make the most of your session.

What should I expect during the first session?

Your first session is all about getting to know your player — their goals, skill level, and personality.

While we don’t officially call it an “assessment,” your coach will observe and coach throughout the session to get a full picture of where your player is and what they need most.

From there, we’ll build a personalized plan to help them grow and improve as quickly as possible — while keeping the process fun, focused, and confidence-building.
